WARMIA AND MAZURY

Warmia and Mazury is in the north – east of Poland. There are a lot of lakes, rivers and beautiful forests. The air is clean because there aren’t many big cities. The biggest lakes are Śniardwy with a port in Mikołajki and Mamry with Giżycko. You can go on a boat trip on the lakes. Mikołajki is a good place even in winter. In Gołębiewski Hotel there is a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and a great restaurant.

The region attracts tourists especially in the summer. The lakes are interconnected with rivers and are excellent places for water sports: sailing, canoeing, swimming, windsurfing. If you like winters sports, you can go skiing in Lidzbark Warmiński. On Krzyżowa Mountain there is a slope and ski – lifts.

People who like music can go to Mrongowo or Giżycko. There are country music and sailors songs festivals.

People who like history can visit old castles and churches. The most interesting are the castle in Lidzbark Warmiński, the Cathedral in Frombork, the church Święta Lipka. The famous astronomer Mikołaj Kopernik lived in the area. Tourists can also go to Gierłoż. Hitler’s headquarter called “Wolf’s Lair” still exists here. Not far from Olsztynek are battle grounds of Grunwald. In 1410 king Władysław Jagiełło won a battle with Teutonic Knights here.

Warmia and Mazury is a really nice place to see.
