Our town – Lidzbark Warmiński

Lidzbark
Warmiński is situated in the north-eastern region of Poland in the Province
of Warmia and Mazury, 48 kilometres away from Olsztyn and around 30
kilometres from the northern border crossing. Its population is about
18,000.
Lidzbark
Warmiński for over 400 years was the capital of the historical Warmia
Region. Due to its location, numerous high class monuments and outstanding
people of the then times, is often called the “pearl of the Warmia Region”.
The
most important historic monuments include:

the
Castle of Lidzbark – erected between 1350 and 1401 on the peninsula at the
Symsarna River mouth. For many centuries, it was a place of residence for
bishops.
Nowadays the castle is the seat of
theWarmia Museum.

Our
town is a good place for leisure activities. The beautiful valley, where
the town is situated is surrounded by picturesque hills with the abundant
flora and fauna. Nearby the town there are two lakes often visited by
people who want to spend their time fishing and generally relaxing.
Lidzbark is a town friendly for tourists also during winter. There is the
Winter Sport Center on the hill called Cross Mountain. The hill is provided
with ski runs adopted for different ski abilities. All runs are lit and in
case of no snow, the runs are artificially snowed.
The
center is open whole year
long. It serves cyclists as the cross 1.5 km long.
Non visitor to
Warmia should go home without spending some time in Lidzbark.
